Guest blog post, by Miles’ daddy:

In the spirit of year-end listomania, here are Miles’ Top 10 favorite tracks of 2010.  Not necessarily the BEST tracks of the year, or even ones that were necessarily released in 2010, but the ones that he enjoyed the most.  Hopefully he will look back on this in 16 years and laugh (or cry) at his tastes as an infant.

10) Shuggie Otis – Strawberry Letter 23
Miles’ tastes definitely lean towards the Soul/R&B genre.  Who can blame him?

9) Stars – Celebration Guns
My go-to good night song to wind Miles down before bed.

8 ) Spoon – The Way We Get By
You can move the band and the boy from Austin, but you can never remove the Austin from the boy.

7) Jay-Z – Empire State of Mind
Miles enjoyed watching this video repeatedly on You Tube.  Must have been Alicia Keys’ hot pants.

6) Black Keys – Everlasting Light
Blues rock guitar and drums are hard to beat, regardless of your age.

5) Cee Lo Green – Bright Lights Bigger City
Never fails to induce that adorable knee-buckle booty shake dance of his.

4) Aloe Blacc – You Make Me Smile
And he did.  And so we did.

3) Curtis Mayfield – Freddie’s Dead
Little child, running wild.  He’s our pusher man.

2) LCD Soundsystem – Dance Yrself Clean
Worth the wait as this one unfolds.  Miles loves to start dancing when the beat kicks in.

1) The XX – Intro
By far the most played song of the year, this had the amazing effect of immediately calming Miles down from hysterics.  Fortunately the lack of lyrics and simple melody make it tolerable to listen to on repeat 12 times in a row while driving around Australia in a camper van.  I am currently in the process of trying to wire this band some money to show my gratitude.
