Thirty days after listing our house on the market, we closed on it and our first house is no longer OUR house.  Our final nights in the house while it was under contract were filled with “are we doing the right thing?” to “we can make this work with two kids” to “I am sick of tiptoeing around and need some SPACE!”. It’s a bittersweet feeling, but the right thing for us right now.  I hope the new owner loves it as much as we did.
The first person who looked at it ended up buying it, and as the time table suggests, things happened relatively quickly and went through smoothly.  We did learn a hard lesson about finalizing legal transactions from abroad – assign a local proxy with power of attorney!  It’s all done now, and we are putting our house money away for when we come home and look for something just a little bigger, hopefully in the same area.
