All holidays at home are exciting, but maybe none such as Tim’s favorite Thanksgiving.  This year, his whole family would be in town, and we rushed to get settled in before they arrived.  We would have some guests, and were looking forward to hosting some events.  Linda and Wally had dibs on the turkey and the big day, and we had a week of fun.

It started out as a very warm and dry week, and we went for a family hike up our local Mt Sanitas.  Super proud of all the kids (and uncles!) for making it up.

Fishing turned into an ice-fishing expedition as the weather cooled down.

By Thanksgiving day, we were dealing with a blizzard, but that didn’t stop the Stelzer clan from sweeping the age groups in the local Turkey Trot!  Calvin got first for boys 10-13, Tim, Bliss and Miles all took third in their respective groups.  There was no official reporting, but I am sure I dominated the 8-months pregnant stroller pushing division.  Bliss, Miles, Hazel and I all ran and finished together with a time of 39 min!

Sledding and snow fun ensued the next day as the ladies all headed out to brunch for a little baby shower for me, which was so nice I won’t deny I cried several times throughout.  All my Colorado family was there – Stelzer Sister-in-Laws, Linda, Mariel and the Larson-out-laws, old friends, new friends and even some Penang representation!  Definitely feeling the love.

We rounded out the weekend with a family stop at Pasta Jay’s (typically reserved for Christmas Eve, but we made an exception for this rare family gathering), trips to Santa and brunch with Tim’s youngest brother.

This was definitely the event of the season that really made us feel settled here in Colorado.  Looking forward to all the holidays and celebrations to come as we embark on birthday (and birth!) month!
